My friends say that I "laugh at inappropriate moments".
When I was three my Kiwi parents, older sister, twin and myself left Blighty (in particular, south-east London, where I was born) on the last commercial passengership to leave her shores.
I grew up in the beautiful New Zealand port-city of Auckland, where a sunny beach was never more than twenty minutes away (I torture myself with this fact every time it rains here in land-locked Berkshire).
After five years of playing cards in the campus coffee-lounge, I earned a Masters degree in Egyptology [Hons] at Auckland University. This didn't do much for my job prospects, but was worth it just to learn how to read and write all the cool little squiggly pictures.
Over a decade ago I returned to London, and have been working here as a writer ever since.
